  • When should NASCAR act on Kurt Busch / Patricia Driscoll incident?

    ard2012
    20 Dec 2014 | 6:34 am
The Kurt Busch alleged domestic assault investigation returned to the news, if it ever even left, this past week as a result of a hearing in Family Court in Delaware pertaining to ex-girlfriend and alleged victim Patricia Driscoll’s request for a no-contact order against Busch. The criminal investigation of Busch is still ungoing and the no-contact order hearing is separate from that investigation. Still, that hearing has returned to the forefront an alleged incident in which Driscoll claims Busch slammed her head against the bedroom wall of his motorhome at Dover (Del.) International…
  • New lug nut rule a NASCAR safety issue waiting to happen?

    ard2012
    16 Dec 2014 | 8:18 am
NASCAR recently made updates to its 2015 rule book and one change pertains to loose lug nuts. Previously, drivers leaving pit road with at least one loose lug nut were called back to pit road by NASCAR officials to tighten said lug nut(s). That won’t be the case in 2015. According to the revision, drivers will be allowed to continue racing with the loose lug nut(s), but if the wheel comes off as a result of said loose lug nut(s), there will be a stiff penalty to be paid. I’m not so sure this is a good idea, safety-wise. My “negative Nancy” mindset sees drivers/teams…
  • Who’ll benefit most from the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup rules package?

    ard2012
    9 Dec 2014 | 1:05 pm
Most of the talk and speculation surrounding the new rules for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars for 2015 have the cars running and handling more like the cars of the NASCAR Nationwide/Xfinity Series. The cars in that series will not undergo any changes for the upcoming season. Anytime there are changes to the race cars, it’s obviously an advantage for some and a disadvantage to others, as driving styles across the complete field of drivers differ and certain handling packages compliment some drivers’ driving styles while clashing with others. That being said, the changes to the…

    6 Dec 2014 | 8:24 am
The 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season isn’t that ancient of history, as the Sprint Cup Series Awards banquet was Friday night and the checkered flag waved on the season-finale at Homestead-Miami just a few short weeks ago. In the brief amount of time since, though, silly season has been in full effect, but not in terms of driver changes. Instead, crew chiefs have been on the move. While crew chief changes came at places such as Hendrick Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing, eyes remained on Joe Gibbs Racing for a highly-anticipated rendition of JGR crew chief musical chairs. • Five Reasons Racing Cars is More Important Than Ever

    16 Dec 2014 | 12:07 am
If you’re anything like me, you’re sick of people asking you why you watch NASCAR or Formula 1 or whatever satiates your need for speed the most. It’s not like I ask my friends why they like watching a bunch of guys standing around on a baseball field for three hours. To each his own, right? Anyway, I decided I’d had enough of the constant harassment and figured I’d put together a list of five solid reasons as to why racing cars is more important than ever: 1. Trickle-Down Technology The goal of racing, for the drivers and their teams at least, is to win a race. To do this,…

Ms. Wood says she “misfired” in terms of location in a less desirable area of Leslieville and by hiring some consultants whose advice turned out to be an expensive mistake. • Changes To Offshore Loans For UK Property

Background Back in 2008 the Finance Act introduced sweeping changes to the way non-UK domiciled individuals resident in the UK were to be taxed. The Government#39;s principal objective was to extend the definition of remittance so that it would be easier for overseas income and gains to be taxed in the UK when they (or assets representing the same) were brought, enjoyed or used in the UK. Having said that, the legislation was far from clear cut and as a result HMRC published detailed guidance on how it would treat certain arrangements in light of the new legislation. Some of that guidance was…

There is a palpable relief when one explains that words are from Adam Smith’s Theory of Moral Sentiments, which was published in 1759, almost 100 years before the Communist Manifesto was published (1848). As has been reported nearly everywhere, both Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle are in play on the free agent market. Nobody on either side is saying much, and that silence is deafening. What Biffle does will likely be dictated by the move Edwards makes, but make no mistake, Roush Fenway Racing could be about to […]TheNASCARInsiders.com Follow the Insiders on Twitter or be a fan on Facebook!

  • NASCAR's Big Gamble on Chase Format - Did it Deliver?

    kkennedy
    5 Dec 2014 | 9:48 am
Tonight marks the official end to the 2014 NASCAR season with the series’ annual awards banquet in Las Vegas. It was quite a year for the sport, with NASCAR taking a big gamble on changing its playoff system to an elimination format and a winner-take-all finale at Homestead Miami Speedway. The sport was trying to put more emphasis on winning races, both during the regular season, and then in the playoffs. Ten months later, it’s interesting to review what some of the drivers said via Twitter when the format was started: Jimmie Johnson:  “A big day in the world of @nascar, I'm good…
  • Sir Jackie Stewart - Still an Icon 50 Years Later

    kkennedy
    24 Sep 2014 | 7:17 pm
One of the bucket-list events for anyone who enjoys historic auto racing has to be the annual Goodwood Revival. Looking through photographs and videos of this year’s event it was a pleasure to see one of racing’s true legends – Sir Jackie Stewart – being honored as the “hero” of this year’s event. Twenty-nine cars from Stewart’s career were on site for this year’s Revival, including the Tyrell Ford F1 car he drove in his final season in 1973, when he captured the last of his three World Championships. It’s interesting to note that Stewart actually had a relatively short…
  • How Do You Watch Racing Today? Two-Screening is the New Trend

    kkennedy
    15 Aug 2014 | 8:51 am
How do you watch auto racing? Certainly, track promoters are hoping you are buying tickets and visiting your local short track, or large, stadium track for events like NASCAR, IndyCar or NHRA. But if you are an avid race fan – and you likely are if you’re reading this – you probably consume much of your racing the way most of America does – on your television. Racing on television has been a pioneer for many innovations, from in-car cameras, to helmet cams, to cameras buried in the track surface, to the cameras on wire that may scream along the front stretch or pit road … sometimes…
  • Pick Your Favorite Race Car? Never As Easy As It Looks

    kkennedy
    1 Aug 2014 | 8:34 am
The only thing better than arguing over the best all-time race car driver, is arguing about favorite race cars. Taste is certainly in the eye of the beholder.  But often times, favorite race cars are packaged around favorite racing memories – the race you attended, or the legend you saw drive. The great thing is, there is no “right” answer. With so many different forms of racing, and so many different eras of racing, favorite race cars come in all shapes, sizes, and powertrains. RACER Magazine asked its readers at the start of this year to vote for their favorite race cars of all…
  • First Brickyard 400 Race Remains Memorable for Many Reasons

    17 Jul 2014 | 11:55 am
What makes a memorable race? There are plenty of things that could go into that answer – a great finish, an unexpected winner, a weather delay, a crash that changes the outcome, and many more things. But one of the most memorable races for me was because of where it took place – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – and what was running there – NASCAR stock cars. The year was 1994, and for anyone who had been to an Indianapolis 500 more than once, NASCAR stock cars rolling into the garages at Indianapolis for the first Brickyard 400 was certainly an unusual sight. Tradition had officially…

  • Is New Hyundai Elantra Lagging Behind Competition?

    Katie Krol
    19 Dec 2014 | 12:22 pm
Our review score: 8.1 / 10 The 2015 Hyundai Elantra delivers neat looks and solid fuel economy, which allow it to stay competitive. When Hyundai released the 2011 Elantra, it was a turning point for the company. A name that used to be associated with “affordable” perhaps “cheap” was now being called “good value” and “impressive.” With its sleek new styling, solid fuel economy and advanced technology features, the Elantra was good enough to steal a lot of the attention away from the category leaders. Now, four years older and without many major upgrades, does the Elantra still…

It’s that time of the year again: the Christmas and holiday season! This equals to shopping and, of course, deals – lots and lots of deals. We are 100 per cent sure that not everyone will buy a car as a Christmas gift due to the high price such a purchase commands, but that doesn’t mean that dealers are not offering any good incentives and rebates. In fact, according to Consumer Reports, they need consumers more than ever during this period since the sales tend to slow down, which is why they are offering tons of impressive deals. And if you like to negotiate, then get ready to have a…
