Not to toot my own horn, but I’m pretty darn proud of myself at this point in the 2014 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup. Why’s that? Because my Chase grid is looking pretty good. Actually, I’m kind of thinking it looks better than good. I’ve heard, repeatedly, from NASCAR reporters, both on radio and television, go on and on about how Chase grids/brackets are busted, so to speak, how noboby could’ve predicted some of the eliminations to date. • Harvick has work cut out for him at Martinsville (The Associated Press)

    25 Oct 2014 | 11:59 am
Kevin Harvick has picked his way through traffic before at Martinsville Speedway, never when the stakes were so high. A poor qualifying effort has Harvick starting 33rd, behind all the other title contenders, in Sunday's race on the Virginia short track. Because the rest of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship field is starting in the top 13, Harvick won't have much time to avoid being lapped. His Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet was considerably faster on Saturday - he was fastest in the final practice of the weekend - so crew chief Rodney Childers didn't seem too concerned about race day.

Comments(0) Advertisement Feature In our younger adult years many of us take little notice of our credit history; it simply isnt top priority. It is only when we start trying to take loans, buy a car on finance, and even get a contract mobile phone, that credit history comes into play. A mortgage is a secured loan from a lender, be it a bank or building society. When they lend to you, these institutions will want to know that you are a safe investment, and therefore will check your credit history to ensure that you have a good history of paying off what you borrow. A poor credit history with…

Oct.25 (GMM) Lotus has confirmed it will test a conventional nose solution ahead of next weekend's US Grand Prix. The struggling team has run an unique, asymmetrical and double-pronged 'walrus'-style nose in 2014, but currently sits just eighth in the constructors' standings with three races to go. Enstone based Lotus is switching to field-leading Mercedes power for 2015, which has ... Keep reading

I don’t know about you guys, but I am LOVING this new Chase format. It’s so intriguing and crazy. The fact that I’m saying this while my favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is currently sitting in an eliminate-able position after Kansas speaks volumes. Even if he’s cut after the next two races I’m still all in on this Chase. I can completely understand why the drivers involved in this deal would hate it but it’s fun that all of the points are reset after each round and drivers are removed from the running. There is always something at stake now, ALWAYS, and…

  • Honda Reveals Advanced Driver-Assistance System

    Taras Trofimov
    24 Oct 2014 | 8:30 am
Honda is launching a new driver-assistance system called Honda Sensing, which will become available on the upcoming Legend by the end of this year. The caveat is that it will only be available in Japan – at least for now. The main purpose of this system isn’t all too complicated – Honda designed it specifically to prevent vehicle accidents and collisions, thereby improving road safety in general. The Sensing system is made up of two types of sensors, both of which have their own special qualities. One is a millimeter-wave radar inside the front grille of the car, and the other is a…
  • GM Nearly Doubled Its Profits in Last Three Months: Report

    23 Oct 2014 | 11:09 am
General Motors managed to almost double its third-quarter net profit in North America thanks to rising SUV and truck sales, allowing the automaker to counterbalance its financial woes in Europe and South America. GM reported that its net income from July through September was at $1.38 billion, which equals to 81 cent per share. Last year, the company made $698 million – or 45 cents per share. The automaker has been plagued by recalls for a good chunk of 2014 – most of which were connected to the deadly ignition switch defect – so it’s no surprise that the sales have suffered as a…

To honour the 2014 DTM champion Marco Wittmann, BMW is preparing to launch a limited-edition M4, which will sell only 23 units. Why 23? Because that was Wittmann’s actual racing number when he won the competition. To make the tribute even more apparent, BMW put the number “23” on the vehicle’s doors as well as “WIT” and “DTM Champion 2014” lettering at the rear, both of which are complemented by the German flag. Inside, owners will find Wittmann’s signature on the dashboard. The BMW M4 DTM features 19-inch light-alloy wheels, carbon aerodynamic details and an…
  • Are Talking Cars a Bad Idea?

    Elliot Chan
    22 Oct 2014 | 6:00 am
Talking cars have been portrayed in media for generations, but now this fantasy is closer to reality than ever. Of course, I’m not talking about KITT from Knight Rider or Herby the Love Bug (be sure to view our list of top movie cars for more goodies). What I’m referring to is an innovative vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technology that enables cars on the road to communicate with one another. By 2020, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is hoping to have mandated the new automotive communication system in an effort to reduce collisions. Relying on various…
  • Deadly Airbag Crisis in U.S. Gets Worse

    Taras Trofimov
    21 Oct 2014 | 9:23 am
Takata Corp. shares fell 23 per cent in Tokyo today as the U.S. government urged car owners to immediately fix the company-supplied airbags because of a potentially deadly defect. The infiltrator mechanism in the airbags can rupture, which can make shrapnel to fly out once the bags are deployed during collisions. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which has been investigating the problem since June, at least four people have died due to this problem, while three people have suffered multiple injuries. In a follow-up to earlier recall notices, the NHTSA is…
